Trames Masterful Staircase
Bordeaux
This seven-story staircase project was conceived as a poetic, sculptural element, as part of a 1% artistic initiative. It is situated in the heart of the atrium of the “Perspective” project in Bordeaux, a building designed by architects Nicolas Laisné and Dimitri Roussel. The staircase is a contemplative link between the inside and the outside. A curved, wire-like envelope undulates around the staircase, acting like a second skin. The vertical elements composing this structure filter the light and allow visitors to see through to the Garonne River. This graphic interplay of shadows and kinetic effects creates an evanescent staircase in constant motion, in the image of Escher’s drawings.
