Steel Design House
Saint-Étienne
Real estate developer’s Apsys commissioned us to design custom furniture for its design house (reception and meeting facilities for the Steel Center) in Saint Etienne. Referring to metalwork, an architectural signature, we used curved aluminum sheets to give the impression of a “draped” effect, giving the whole piece a particular lightness and softness. To contrast with the metal, we also used walnut to complement the structure of the furniture. The centerpiece is a large divider that simultaneously serves as a bookcase, a filter, and an exhibition space. The different sizes of the interstices create rhythm by alternating different heights.
