Since its creation in 2011, Studio Briand&Berthereau has developed a collaborative approach in the fields of interior architecture and design.

After studying at ENSAD (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris) and working with Noé Duchaufour-Lawrence, Joran Briand partnered with Arnaud Berthereau, who studied at ECAL (École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne).

Alongside their creative complementarity, Joran and Arnaud share a passion for vast spaces—one for the ocean, the other for the mountains.

Together, they decided to create a studio that reflects their values, with a philosophy that can be summed up in a few words: make the most possible out of the least possible. This approach, which could be called “frugal”, seeks to create the perfect balance between form and function.

Interior Architecture
Beyond its expertise, Studio Briand&Berthereau is committed to an architectural vision based on the search for the right gesture and the pursuit of balance among all project components.

Formally educated and experienced designers, Joran Briand and Arnaud Berthereau have placed use at the heart of their thinking. This philosophy goes hand in hand with a strong focus on materials. From the production chain to innovative techniques, every choice made by the Studio is closely linked to the sustainability perspectives inherent in each project.

The Studio’s aesthetic vision is naturally influenced by the tastes of its two founders.

For Joran, the ocean—its colors, natural power, and energy—plays a central place in his inspiration. This is deeply tied, of course, to surf culture, with its visual audacity, rich imagination, and international influences. His intensive practice of this discipline has an undeniable influence on his approach to design and architecture, since it requires a high level of precision.

For Arnaud, the mountains serve as a catalyst for his inspiration, offering an endless palette of colors, materials, and patterns. This universe encourages a distinctive perspective on architecture and design, emphasizing the need to skillfully address challenges of space and volume while making thoughtful decisions to achieve sustainable balance.

These two directions—the quest for the right gesture and a balanced relationship with the environment—guide the Studio’s creative research and enable new stories to be written in service of unique and future-oriented projects.

Design

Studio Briand-Berthereau has established its expertise in several areas of creation: industrial design of architectural elements and object design.

Recognized for the accuracy of its interventions and the reliability of its expertise, the Studio has contributed to the creation of iconic monuments such as the Adria Tower, the Mucem, the Jean-Bouin Stadium, and the Steel retail park. It has also collaborated with internationally renowned architects like Norman Foster, Sou Fujimoto, Hardel & Le Bihan, and Coldefy.

These collective experiences, another strength of the Studio, result from fruitful collaborations with internationally renowned brands (Alpine, Galeries Lafayette, Hermès, JC Decaux) and prestigious editors such as Ligne Roset and Kann.
